08 February 2021, Toronto, Ontario – The Philippine Consulate General in Toronto assisted the financial and personal protective equipment donation by the Anderson College of Health, Business and Technology on 2 February 2021 to the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) and the Integrated Filipino Canadian Nurses Association (IFCNA), respectively.
The symbolic turn-over of eight (8) boxes of 3-ply and 4-ply masks (total of 16,000 pieces of masks) was held at the Consulate General. Anderson College, represented by its Regional Director Ryan Tuazon, handed the donation to the officers of IFCNA, Mr. Austine Gaqui (Founding Chairman), Ms. Maria Rosario Quinto (President), and Mr. Ignacio Abamonga (Vice President). According to Ms. Quinto, the donated masks will be given to their members and Filipino PSWs (Personal Support Workers) who badly needed them in their work stations.
Anderson College also handed a C$1,000.00 check payable to the Philippine National Red Cross to be used for the victims of Typhoon Ulysses which hit the Cagayan region, among others, in November 2020. The check donation will be sent to the PNRC through the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila.
Anderson College has been training healthcare professionals since 1988. Its programs and teaching techniques, which feature hands-on career training and guaranteed internship in less than a year, are responsive to the advancements in technology and health care. – END
