The Philippine Consulate General in Toronto would like to warn the general public against the possibility of a new scam being perpetrated by unscrupulous elements against people traveling out of the Philippines. This concerns a supposed “Traveling Basic Allowance Policy” by the PHL government wherein travelers leaving the country are required to show actual money at the airport before they are allowed to fly. As part of the modus operandi, a purported official document will be issued to the victims by a fictitious government office calling itself the “Bureau of Aviation” .
The PCG assures that no such government policy as “Supreme Decree No. 2231” or “Law 3072” is in effect, and that no such PHL government agency exists.
