Philippine Consulate General in Toronto Celebrates 2021 National Women’s Month

01 March 2021, Toronto, Canada. – The Philippine Consulate General in Toronto celebrated National Women’s Month during its flag-raising ceremony held on 1 March 2021.

Immediately after the flag-raising and Panunumpa sa Watawat ceremonies and recitation of the DFA Foreign Policy, Consul General Orontes V. Castro gave brief remarks on the significance of National Women’s Month. He explained that women should be celebrated all year-round because of their many contributions to society. He highlighted that the Philippines topped a list of 32 countries with the highest number of women executives holding senior management positions, improving four places from last year. Grant Thornton International’s 2020 Women in Business report showed the Philippines had 43 percent of Filipino women executives in senior management positions, up from last year’s 37 percent when it ranked fifth out of 35 countries.

Consul General Castro likewise distributed copies of R.A. 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women to the Consulate’s clientele. The 2021 National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) official streamer was prominently displayed in the Consulate’s Consular area and posted in its official website and Facebook page. END
