15 December 2020, Toronto, Ontario – The Philippine Consulate General in Toronto has named the Panel of Judges for its Sentro Rizal Toronto’s Art Competition. The Art Competition, with the theme, “Paghilom at Pag-asa mula sa Pandemya” (Healing and Hope from the Pandemic), is Sentro Rizal Toronto’s project under the Sentro Rizal Padayon Program of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). It is also part of Sentro Rizal Toronto’s celebration of the Quincentennial Commemorations of the Philippines.
Sentro Rizal Toronto’s project is very well received not only by the Filipino Canadian youth but also mainstream Canadian students. It has received entries from elementary and secondary students from various places in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and continues to receive entries to date.
Post organized a virtual meeting with the three (3) selected judges which was held on 8 December 2020. They are Filipino Canadians who have excelled in their various fields of profession. During the virtual meeting, Consul General Orontes V. Castro gave a brief presentation and updates on the art competition. The following are the Judges for the art competition:
Chairman: The Honourable Steve A. Coroza (Justice of Appeal, Court of Appeal for Ontario)
Vice Chairman: Mr. Genaro “Gene” A. Lopos (President, Philippine Artists Group of Canada)
Member: Ms. Helen Chua Balderama (Associate Director, International Partnerships and Programs, York University)
In view of the extension of the deadline for the submission of entries to 15 February 2021, the Presentation and Judging of Entries is tentatively scheduled between 16-28 February 2021, while the Announcement of Winners is from 1-15 March 2021. – END
