Clients in Mississauga availing of the different services provided during the outreach mission
01 August 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in Toronto conducted consular outreach services to the Cities of Mississauga and Oshawa on 20 and 27 July 2024, respectively. The Mississauga outreach was held at the Kalayaan Cultural Community Center (KCCC), while the Oshawa outreach was held at the Oshawa Civic and Recreation Center.
The outreach services provide a range of consular services to members of the community who have difficulty coming to the Consulate office because of restrictive schedules or mobility issues. These services include passport renewals, notarial services, civil registry submission, and dual citizenship applications.
Over the course of the two Saturdays, the consular teams rendered a combined total of 147 consular services. Additionally, the team received 40 Overseas Voter registration requests.
The Philippine Social Security System (SSS) accompanied the consular team on both Saturdays. Ms Lucille Simbol, the SSS representative, received special thanks from the Mississauga community for extending her service hours beyond the published time, to accommodate the large number of SSS members who availed of the opportunity to update or rectify their SSS records.
The Philippine Consulate General is scheduled to hold more outreach missions, including to Orangeville, Ontario on 10 August, to Windsor and Leamington, Ontario on 14 and 15 September, and to Winnipeg, Manitoba on 21-22 September 2024, as part of continuing efforts to bring its services closer to Filipino communities in Ontario and Manitoba.
