19 March 2024 – Philippine Consulate General Toronto officials led by Consul General Angelica Escalona met with officials and Filipino international students of Centennial College at the College’s Progress campus.
In Ontario, Centennial College holds the distinction of having the highest number of Filipino international students enrolled, with almost 8,000 students in academic year 2023.
The Consulate officials met with Centennial College’s Associate Vice President for Global Strategy and Market Development Marie Braswell and Associate Director for Global Recruitment and International Education Daniel Yoon to talk about the College’s academic and support programs and how Filipino international students are faring.
Consul General Escalona considered the visit a good opportunity to meet and exchange views Centennial College’s Filipino international students. The Consul General asked the Filipino students about their experiences and concerns as international students. The Consulate officials also shared information about consular and other services available to Filipino nationals.
The students were candid in sharing the challenges that they face in living and studying in Canada.
