Toronto, 16 April 2023– The government officials of the cities of Kitchener and Waterloo and the representatives of the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto met at the Sari Sari Filipino Cuisine for a luncheon hosted by the owners of the restaurant and in support to the 2023 Filipino Restaurant Month in Canada (FRMC).

Mayor Berry Vrbanovic of Kitchener, Mayor Dorothy McCabe of Waterloo, Members of Parliament (MP) Bardish Chagger of Waterloo, MP Tim Louis of Kitchener-Conestoga and Councillor Aislinn Clancy of Ward 10 Kitchener, spent their sunny Sunday at the patio of Sari Sari Filipino Cuisine enjoying the restaurant’s prix fixe offering for FRMC 2023. They all shared that they are regular patrons of Sari Sari Filipino Cuisine. They were joined by the officers of the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto who travelled to Kitchener, a two-hour drive away from Toronto. Present also were vloggers and social media influencers who came to experience FRMC 2023. Ms. Jeannette Enriquez, one of the owners of Sari Sari Filipino Cuisine, narrated how the restaurant was able to survive and even flourish during the pandemic due to the local and Filipino community support. They related that their customers are a good mix of Filipino and non-Filipinos who enjoy their Filipino menu.

The occasion was also an opportunity for the Consulate General to discuss possible collaborative projects and programs with the government officials in view of the significant and increasing number of Filipinos in the area. END
