In celebration of the Museums and Galleries Month, the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto has encouraged the Filipino community and the public to visit the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) which has Philippine artifacts in its extensive permanent collections.
The Philippine artifacts have become part of the Museum’s founding collections in 1910 which include pottery, native hats (Salakot), fishing gear, and agricultural tools. There are also contemporary products on display.
ROM is considered the biggest museum of world cultures and natural history in Canada. It is also the most-visited museum in Canada based on the number of its visitors every year.
The Royal Ontario Museum is open on Tuesdays to Sundays from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm located at 100 Queen’s Park, Toronto, ON M5S 2C6.
