Canada’s Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino and Consul General Orontes Castro’s Visit to the Lechon Republik’s FRM 2022 Prix Fixe Offerings

Toronto, 09 April – Honorable Marco Mendicino, Canada’s Public Safety Minister, and Consul General Orontes V. Castro enjoyed a hearty lunch today at the Lechon Republik at Romar Crescent in Toronto during the promotion of the Filipino Restaurant Month (FRM) 2022. They sampled the three prix fixe offerings of Lechon Republik for the Filipino Restaurant Month 2022 —- Lechon with Rice and Pork Shanghai on the side, served with a dessert of Buko Pandan; Dinakdakan with Rice and Pork Shanghai on the side, served with Leche Flan; and Pork Sisig with Rice and Pork Shanghai on the side, served with Leche Flan.

Consul General Castro informed Minister Mendicino about the Filipino Restaurant Month (FRM) 2022 celebration and its aim of supporting Philippine food businesses in Canada as they provide employment to Canadian workers and are bearers of Philippine culture accessible to both overseas Filipinos and the Canadians in the area. Minister Mendicino praised Lechon Republik’s owners for bringing Filipino culture and food to Ontario. He not only sampled and enjoyed the prix fixe meals, but also bought some Philippine snacks and condiments to be shared with family at home. He likewise inquired with Consul General Castro on where he could enjoy wonderful beaches in the Philippines so he can plan a trip there with his family in the future. FRM

Members of the media, The Philippine Reporter and Filipino TV, were similarly present to cover the participation and menu offerings of Lechon Republic for the FRM 2022. They interviewed both Minister Mendicino and Consul General Castro. FRM
